Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon. I am Hiroyo Itoh that you let me go to American Florida as a YE student. Last time, when I talked to you, I was terribly afraid. At that time, though I told that there was an expectation, my anxiety was big, too. I rode on the airplane for the first time, and left Japan for the first time. I went to Detroit from Kansai international airport, and waited for about six hours in Detroit. We were waiting with 2 people with the YE student of district 335-B. Usually, six-hour time is long. Furthermore, it is the land which isn't known at all. and I am poor at English. I felt six hours on 1day in strain and worry . We went to Miami from Detroit. How should I tell Host Family? Can they understand my English? I was reviewing a English dictionary many many times in airplane. It arrived at Miami airport at 12 o'clock at night. But, Host Family mother met me. She seemed to be very gentle. I was a little relieved. I thought that I can get along with this mother for one month,it's notihing to worry. I stopped being afraid a little. I was terribly tense in the car which went to the house from the airport. It seemed to me that though a very simple question, she asked very difficult. I was only surprised at native English difference. Father was waiting when I arrived at the house. He was after operated on the heart. It seemed that he was very painful. However, because I came, he wasn't sleeping till late, and I was happy. Because the day was late, she guided me soon to the bed room and said sleep. I went into the bed, and slept soon because I got tired by the movement such as an airplane. Then, when it gets up in the morning, "GoodMorning!”from father. I was believed really to come to America with this word. Hostfamiliy is father and mother two people life. Because they were working, both father and mother seemed to be very busy every day. Sometimes When I get up in the morning, both father and mother have gone for the work. In such a day.A message was put on the table, e "I will comes back at afternoon, you may take a rest easily." And such a day I watched Television. Therefore, I learned to do English hearing a little. Japanese was missed for one week first. It didn't want to come back to Japan, but it only wanted to listen to Japanese. I didn't find out whether father and mother hear what I was telling same as which I thought. I sometimes thought whether what father and mother said was the same as which I understood. After one week , a Christmas was near. I was taken to the Christmas meeting of Lions several times. Miami has more people who speak Spanish than English. I was taken to the only Spanish regular meeting,too. I couldn't understand Spanish at all though I couldn't understand that even English was spoken fast. But, everyone of Lions was very kind and gentle. They spoke to me variously through the person who could speak English. Until these time I passed a foreigner. I thought that I should talk foreigner somoething When contact was being avoided and it was no good, I had it taken to the regular meeting. Then, Christmas. I went to the church at night of the Christmas Eve. Many people gathered in the church. They became quiet when father stood up in the platform. I thought this was a sacred place. I sang, and prayed, and I only imitated a neighborhood. But, when we came back, mother said "You will be happy next year, too." Because it said in the church, I thought that it was really so. Then, a home party was done in the Christmas. Father's and mother's child and a grandchild gathered, and it was very pleasant. Mother said "Because you are my child, all of here is your family." I was happy, and I stood tears. I was as happy as I wanted to cry. I got many Christmas presents and got along with many families, I could enjoy an unprecedented happy Christmas. After a New Year began, we went for the key-waist. The sea was very clean, and I was deeply impressed. The color of the sea,a place and a climate are good. I thought that the person who lived in this place was happy. Then, we went for Disney-World. The scale of everything was big, and I thought that America was great. However, there is one thing which was disappointing. I seemed to be in Japan though in America because many Japanese were in Disney-World. Because it was a New Year rest, mother said that there were many Japanese. I could enjoy there different from Tokyo DisneyLand. Time passed in an instant because they were a Christmas and the trip of the key waist and Disney-World. I went to the airport from the hotel near Disney-World in a day to come back to Japan. A family parted in the hotel. It was instant parting. I couldn't say thanks satisfactorily because the bus of the airport way had already come, either. However, "Will you come in the next Christmas?" The word of the mother who said "Because you are my daughter ,You may come back always." was made to appreciate me "I spent really happy time, I was blessed with the good family." I had the impression which couldn't be expressed with the word in Miami. I did the experience that couldn't finish making it writing. I might be happier if I could speak English well. I am not good at English yet. But, I want to be a respectable cosmopolitan, so I don't want to waste the experience in Miami. These all is my property. I think that The cooperation of Kyoto West Lions Club member made this wonderful property. At the end I hope that Kyoto West Lions Club develops. Together, I will do my best by LEO club activities, too.
